Mokume Gane simply means “woodgrain in metal”. It is a Japanese technique in which combinations of different coloured metals are layered then fused together under heat and pressure. They form a variety of multi-coloured patterns, which produce both unusual and impressive jewellery designs.

We use Mokume Gane in a variety of our handmade jewellery. Different colour combinations are possible by using various metals. Combinations can be made with a choice of Rose, White, Yellow and Green Gold as well as Sterling Silver.

No two Mokume Gane rings made by Robert Paul will be identical, although rings which are made from the same Mokume Gane “billet” will be similar. This makes a Mokume Gane ring by Robert Paul a piece of jewellery that is as unique as the wearer.
